ARTIST NOTES: I painted this at my neighborhood lake. I live in Twain Harte, California. It is in Tuolumne county, near Yosemite. We have a sweet neighborhood with kids, dogs and grandparents. One of my favorite parts of living here are the lakes and rivers. The one down the street here explodes with lupine late spring. I painted these there and promptly jumped in the lake for a swim when I was done.

My son likes to pick the tall lupine at the lake and use them as “love swords”, poking people he likes. So now I cannot see them without thinking that they are tools for affection attacks. He is four-years-old and takes any excuse he can get to turn something into a sword - even a beautiful flower!
